Sinks Canyon Wild Standing Committees

SCW is organized into five standing committees— Outreach, Cultural Heritage, Finance and Fundraising, Legal, and Wildlife and Wild Lands. These committees are the work units of the organization. They make full use of the expertise and commitment of SCW members to help achieve organizational goals and ideals.

  • Outreach Committee

The Outreach Committee is charged with effectively engaging community supporters in forwarding Sinks Canyon Wild’s goal of helping keep the canyon wild.

  • Cultural Heritage Committee

This Committee’s function is to help protect Sinks Canyon’s cultural resources and heritage and to support visitor education of Native American history, culture, and Sinks Canyon’s significance to regional Native American Tribes. The committee closely works with area tribes on this important issue.

  • Finance and Fundraising Committee

The Finance and Fundraising Committee is charged with the important task of overseeing the organization’s budget, finances, and fundraising efforts. It is the job of the Finance & Fundraising Committee to create plans that guide the organization’s financial interests for the achievement of the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Organizational Goals.

  • Legal Committee

The committee is charged with the important task of recommending and overseeing the organization’s legal efforts, enabling the organization to efficiently and effectively respond to current and future legal issues.

  • Wildlife & Wild Lands Committee

This committee guides the organization’s efforts towards ensuring that the No. 1 guiding principle of the 2020 Sinks Canyon State Park Master Plan: “Keep the Canyon Wild” is honored. The Committee also works with the various local, state, and federal land and wildlife management agencies to encourage wise and proper management for retaining Sinks Canyon’s wild characteristics.
